HIPORA®, a new breathing fabric developed by KOLON®, provides high vapor permeability while retaining excellent waterproof and water repellent characteristics.
The membrane surface of HIPORA® is micro-honeycomb structured and contains as many as 1 billion micropores in a mere 1 cm2. This special membrane of HIPORA® prevents water from passing through the fabrics, but allows the passage of the body's natural moisture vapor.
The diameter of HIPORA®'s micropores is designed to be 0.1-0.3 micron. That size is approximately 20.000 times smaller than the diameter of raindrops, but approximately 1000 timees larger than transpiration vapors. Thus HIPORA® effectively lets transpiration vapor excape its membrane while preventing raindrops from passing through.
The result is a remarkably comfortable fabric that is waterproof and windproof, yet still breathable.
