Bolt tightening torques

Today's cycling parts use ever lighter materials such as carbon. That's why it is very important not to exceed the maximum torque when tightening the bolts and fasteners. If you exceed maximum torque, you run the risk of damaging your bike.

You can buy a tool called a torque-wrench that measures the moment that you apply to a bolt while tightening it. The device may be mechanical, or electronic.
